  Bello Horizonte Archaeological Reserve
We will conduct archaeological surveys of several of the 10 sites in the reserve, including definition of boundaries, GPS mapping, description of architecture and layout of sites, photography, and in-field artifact analysis. We will also create a post-field report on all sites. We will meet with community members in Bello Horizonte to help deliniate the boundaries of the archaeological preserve and we will mark these boundaries with hand held GPS.

This will require rough hiking over rocky terrain and there is a danger from slips and falls. Good physical condition is required as some hikes will ascend 700 meters (2300 feet)

  Ciudad de Dios Education Project
Education Program
We will run classes, teaching the children about health, environment, local archaeology, etc. The goal is to cover topics that would otherwise not be covered in local classes. At the end of the course on archaeology and cultural heritage education, we will lead field trips with the kids, to local heritage sites like Chan Chan and Huaca de la Luna.

The exact curriculum will be constructed in pre-departure meetings in January and February.

We will also help the children of Ciudad to clean and repair their school, we will help to organize community clean-up and we will help the children learn about gardening and landscaping.

Some spanish is recommended and we require at least a few fluent spanish speakers.

Avendaño Ecological Trek and Andean Bear Project
We will meet with community members and leaders in Peru before and after the hike to discuss the possibility of creatingan ecological reserve. The trek will consist of a multi-day hike through the proposed reserve with a local guide. Preliminary biological and archaeological surveys will be conducted. The hike begins at 500 m (1,640 ft. above sea level) and climbs to 2,500 m (8,200 feet) over the course of 12 miles. Vegetation changes from cactus to scrubs with isolated trees around springs. Although there is a possibility of flowing springs, the group will have to pack in all water as well as tents, sleeping bags, all food and other necessities.

This is an extremely difficult hiking with a high degree of danger from falls and snakes. Previous wilderness experience is required.
