MOCHE Expeditions
North Coast Tour

2008 Expedition dates not yet scheduled.
Price: $2500 per person
($300 tax deductable)

Just the name Peru conjures up images of mysterious past civilizations: lofty and majestic Macchu Pichu, the expansive and seemingly alien Nazca Lines...
Amazing as these places are, they are but a couple of dots on the map of a diverse and spectacular country with a fascinating past. If you would like to step off of the well-beaten tourist circuit and see sites that far fewer people ever see, then this is the tour for you!
Make no mistake, we will not be "roughing it" without hot water or electricity. In fact, our itinerary takes us to some of the best restaurants and hotels in Peru. What you will be experiencing is the hospitality of people and places less tarnished by unregulated, strictly profit-motivated tourism. In fact, proceeds from our group will support MOCHE in its efforts to establish a sustainable community-run tourism business. Part of your tour cost includes a $300 tax-deductable donation, which this year will go toward our current water project in Cuidad de Dios. You personally will have the opportunity to work hands on with volunteers and community members on current improvement projects and excavations.

The North Coast Expedition takes you from Lima to Trujillo and north to Sipan, before heading East into the Andes Mountains and the city of Cajamarca. You will experience bustling cities and quiet villages; barren desert, river oasis and lush mountains; and see it all through the lens of archaeology.
